Corregidor Courts

In 1942, during WWII, the last American forces in the Philippines surrender to the Japanese on Corregidor. Fort Mills, on Corregidor, was the location of the U.S. Major General George F. Moore's headquarters for the Philippine Department's Harbor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays.

Bougainville

On March 8, 1943 during WWII, American forces were attacked by Japanese troops on Hill 700 on the island of Bougainville. The battle lasted five days, ending on March 13 with a Japanese retreat.
